William Charles Paradee, III, was born in Dover, Delaware, on July 18, 1969. His mother, Sandra L. McNinch, nicknamed him “Trey” when he was a baby. Trey is the direct descendent of 10 generations of Kent County farmers, including Stephen Paradee, who lived in Kent County in the late 1600s. Trey’s father, Charlie Paradee, Jr., is an area businessman, who foundedTrey Paradee Paradee Gas Co., Inc. and sold the company in 2000. His mother, Sandra, is a retired nurse, who worked for the State of Delaware, Division of Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities. Trey has an older brother, John W. Paradee, an area attorney, and an older sister, Jacqueline P. Mette, a law professor at Widener University.

Trey was raised south of Dover, near Moore’s Lake. In his youth, he was active in sports and the Boy Scouts, and, at the age of 15, he attained the rank of Eagle Scout. After high school, Trey attended the University of Delaware and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in English with a Concentration in Business and Technical Writing in 1991. During his senior year at the University, Trey worked for the Delaware Arthritis Foundation and worked briefly for the Foundation following graduation. Trey returned to Dover in 1991 to work for his father’s company, Paradee Gas Co., Inc. Trey’s early career at Paradee Gas Co. included many long hours of driving trucks, digging ditches, and pulling wrenches.

In 1992, Trey met his wife to be, Erika Lee Ruehrmund. The couple was married in 1994 and soon built their first home in the 29th District in the Hunter’s Point Development. The birth of their first child, Cassandra F. “Cassie” Paradee soon followed.

In 1995, Trey began attending evening classes at Paradee Familythe University of Delaware and graduated with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in 1998. His studies focused on matters of finance. In 1999, Charlie Paradee, IV, was born, and the family moved to their current home on a small farm near Kenton, where Trey’s wife, Erika, maintains a stable to train Standardbred horses. In the late 1990s, Trey became involved in a number of community and charitable organizations, serving on local boards of the Boy Scouts of America and the Heart Association, as well as the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce.

In late 2000, Trey’s father sold Paradee Gas Co. Shortly thereafter, Trey was recruited by Merrill Lynch to work as a financial advisor. In 2003, Trey joined Edward Jones Investments and opened an investment and financial planning office located at 3 S. American Ave. in downtown Dover. Trey’s office provides investment and financial services for individuals and small businesses and helps families invest for college and retirement. Trey currently serves on the Delaware Technical And Community College Educational Foundation Investment Advisory Committee and is a member of the Edward Jones Regional Management Committee.

When Trey is not at the office, his wife is usually putting him to work on the farm. He is very proud of his John Deere tractor and his Kent County farming heritage. Trey enjoys spending time with his family and playing with his children on the farm. Trey is an avid hunter, a proud gun owner, and a member of the National Rifle Association. Trey loves music and is a talented rock and jazz drummer.
